MICKEY Dââ¬â¢s Some say working at McDonaldââ¬â¢s is an easy, mediocre, ââ¬Å"Canââ¬â¢t do no better,â⬠low-life, minimum wage job. Frankly, I donââ¬â¢t disagree. However, not everyone can start off an owner or general manager of McDonaldââ¬â¢s. Not everyone can start off a school principal or a schoolteacher, for that matter. Nevertheless, McDonaldââ¬â¢s was the first job I ever had. I even became good at flippinââ¬â¢ burgers, droppinââ¬â¢ fries, McNuggets, original and Cajun chicken patties. In addition, I believe, if the only job you can get is a McDonaldââ¬â¢s job then minimum wage is better than no wage at all. Therefore, since I must retain this job in order to have money and not be miserable, I might as well have fun while Iââ¬â¢m there. My McDonaldââ¬â¢s saga started when I moved to Decatur, Illinois, about three years ago. I got an offer to play the organ at a church in Decatur. This church was similar to a church I went to in California. This church appreciated my music so much that they were going to take care of my every need while I was playing at this church. Now, Iââ¬â¢m living in Cairo, Il, itââ¬â¢s summertime, Iââ¬â¢m in high school, I donââ¬â¢t want to go to the school Iââ¬â¢m forced to attend, the church I play for doesnââ¬â¢t appreciate my efforts to be the finest musician theyââ¬â¢ve ever had, I have none of my own means of transportation, and Iââ¬â¢m broke. So what do you think I said when I was offered to move to a bigger city; better school districts, better churches to attend; better stores to shop at, and a lot more job opportunities to seek out? I quickly said okay. I packed my bags as fast as a humming birds heart rate. Moreover, I was glad just to be moving out of my momââ¬â¢s house. I finally arrive in Decatur, and the dusk is a beautiful sight and a peaceful aroma fills the fresh air. From then on, everything was all right- at least I thought. My aunt went to the church I would be playing for, and it was at her house where I would be stayi...
